Text Box: For the eleventh straight year, the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation will divide $1 million among non-profit agencies throughout the country to help fight hunger.  Each participating agency will get a share of the $1 million equal to their proportion of the total amount raised by all participants.

D/SAOC hopes to share in this $1 million, and the good news is you can help.  Any donation you make to D/SAOC--from March 1st through April 30th– Feinstein will match a certain percentage of your money with Feinstein Foundation money!

Qualifying donations include; cash, checks and food items.  Last year organizations in Iowa raised a combined total of $727,081.00.  Across the nation $148 million was raised. Text Box: time to assist at the store.  Another area that we are lacking resources in is bi-lingual individuals that can take phone calls and assist staff in determining needs of individuals of different cultures.
Domestic violence spans across all races and cultures and language should not be a barrier to prevent anyone from receiving services that Text Box: We here at D/SAOC are fortunate to have the support of so many wonderful individuals.  Your support comes in many forms; donations, fundraising participation or adopting a family in shelter at Christmas. Although your donations are helpful, we are still lacking in one important resource….volunteers. D/SAOC has so many opportunities for individuals to help.  Not all volunteer opportunities are at the shelter.  There are a variety of needs that an individual can make a difference.  With the opening of The Key On Central, we are looking for volunteers who are willing to volunteer an hour or two of their Text Box: they so greatly need and deserve.
Currently, we are also looking for Advocates.  Advocates volunteer their time to carry a crisis phone for a week at a time to respond to crisis calls when staff are not on duty.  Advocates receive training to handle the calls that they receive and they also receive
